Distribution: Nova Scotia to Georgia and Mississippi.

Size: 50-60 ft. tall, with a spread of 30-45 ft.
Form: Deciduous tree. Pyramidal when young, developing an extremely irregular, spreading habit when mature.
Bark: Bark is deeply furrowed into a diamond pattern.
Stem/Bud: Leaf scar is not U-shaped, but straight across the top.
Leaves: Leaves are opposite, odd-pinnate, with 5-9 leaflets that are ovate, sparingly toothed, pubescent beneath.
Fall Color: Fall color is yellowish. The leaves turn yellow early in the Fall.
Flower: Plants are dioecious. Flowers are apetalous, in panicles, hairy, and not showy.
Fruit: Fruit is a samara, produced very prolifically.
Uses: Street tree.
