Distribution: Greece, Caucasus, Asia Minor.

Size: 50-75 ft. tall, with a spread of 25-35 ft.
Form: Needleleaved Evergreen tree.
Narrowly pyramidal, with stiff horizontal branching.
Bark: Bark is smooth, grayish-brown, becoming slightly fissured on older trees.
Stem/Bud: Winter buds, brown, and not resinous.
Leaves: Needles are 3/4 - l l/2 inches long, somewhat 2-ranked, flattened, with a notched tip, lustrous dark green in color, with 2 white stomatic lines beneath.
Fall Color:
Flower: Plants are monoecious. Cones are reddish in color, pistillate produced only at the top, staminate produced throughout.
Fruit: Cones are cylindrical, 5-6 inches long, upright, reddish-brown in color.
