Form: Deciduous tree.
Bark: Bark gray, peeling in flakes.
Stem/Bud: Buds fat, with imbricate scales, very similar to Acer platanoides.
Leaves: Leaves opposite, 5 lobed, 4-6 in. wide, with large serrated teeth (crenate serrate).
Fall Color: Fall color not very showy, yellowish or brown.
Flower: Flowers yellowish green, in pendulous panicles.
Fruit: Fruit is a samara, to 2 in. long, at about 45 degree angles.
