Distribution:  British Columbia to northern California.

Synonyms:

Size:   12-16 ft. tall.

Form:   Deciduous tree.

Bark:   Bark smooth and greenish.

Stem/Bud:   Twigs slender, glabrous, often reddish brown.

Leaves:   Leaves opposite, almost round, 2-7 in. wide, with 7-9 fan like lobes.

Fall Color:   Fall color red and orange.

Flower:   Flowers in small terminal clusters or corymbs, with reddish or purple sepals and white petals.

Fruit:   Fruit a red samara when young, about 1.5 in. long, nearly at a 180 degree angle.
