Distribution:  Central China to Japan.

Size:   A twining climber, growing of 30 to 40 ft. tall.

Form:   Deciduous vine.

Leaves:   Leaves alternate, palmately compound with 3 leaflets, each 1 1/2 to 4 inches long, entire or coarsely toothed(shallowly lobed), with a notched apex.

Fall Color:   Fall color is non-existent.

Flower:   Plants are polygamo-monoecious. Female flowers are dark purple, l/2 to 1 inch across; males are pale purple, l/5 inch across, both borne in the same pendent, axillary raceme, fragrant in May.

Fruit:   Fruit is a pale-violet, sausage-like pod, 1 1/2-2 l/2 inches long, ripening in Sept.-Oct.
